Interesting little story and please bear with me whilst I attempt to explain

I get a card this morning through the post:
"Up to 30% off while stocks last"

It goes onto say -
With the festive season well and truly over....

Thinking Bearing in mind I got this card on the 4th January this sales company is now telling me that the festive season is "well and truly over" - WHAT? Only 4 days into the New Year Dontknow2

So, if that's the case, then how comes in bloody October (maybe the beginning of November), all these companies are telling us that Christmas "is just around the corner" and we have to BUY BUY BUY now or else we won't get the stuff in time
I don't think they actually have ever actually just started their campaigns 10 days before Christmas Day, so why end them 10 days after with this garbage

Interestingly according to the same card, I now have to be aware (on the 4th January 2010) that coming up is:
Valentines Day (14th February - 41 days away)
Mothers Days (23rd March - how many days is that?)
Easter (2nd April - that's about 4 bloody months)
Fathers Day (20th June - oopps 6 months - I might still be alive then LOL)

I'm surprised that somewhere it does not mention 2010 Christmas and Boxing Day sales but that might be really taking the piss
